What’s Going on with Texas Homeowners Insurance

Usually, the only time Texas homeowners insurance gets in the news is when it’s an election year.

During the last state election, back in 2002, as a cursory part of the election process, politicians sat around blaming each other for the all time high premiums. Now that it’s 2006 and another election year, they’re all talking about rate-gouging, broken promises, failed reforms and increasing regulation. You could set your watch by it.

It started off in January with a report from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners saying that the Lone Star State has the highest rates in the country.
